Makati City, Philippines — Marinduque State University (MarSU) President Prof. Diosdado P. Zulueta, together with Dr. Ma. Edelwina M. Blasé, Vice President for Research, Development, and Extension (RDE), participated in a series of governing meetings of regional research consortia on August 4, 2026 at St. Giles Hotel, Makati City.


During the morning session, Prof. Zulueta and Dr. Blasé participated in the 63rd Consortium Executive Council (CEC) Meeting of the Southern Tagalog Islands Research and Development Consortium (STIRDC). The meeting was presided over by Dr. Venzon L. Limpiada, STIRDC Chairperson and President of Palawan State University (PalawanSU), together with Dr. Bernardo N. Sepeda, STIRDC Co-Chairperson and Regional Director of the Department of Scence and Technology (DOST) MIMAROPA.

Among the key agenda items discussed were the Consortium’s Second Quarter CY 2026 accomplishments, its collaboration with the Ateneo de Davao University–Center for Renewable Energy and Appropriate Technologies (AdDU-CREATE), upcoming activities for the Third Quarter of CY 2026, and other matters aimed at strengthening science, technology, research, development, and innovation initiatives across the region.

In the afternoon, they participated in the 30th Regional Research and Development Coordinating Council (RRDCC) Meeting of the MIMAROPA Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development Consortium (MAARRDEC). The meeting was presided over by Dr. Edelbert C. Edaniol, RRDCC Chairperson and President of Occidental Mindoro State University (OMSU).

Discussions focused on the confirmation of lead agencies for regional priority commodities, proposed MAARRDEC activities, the presentation of the Consortium’s accomplishments, updates from the Department of Science and Technology–Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development (DOST-PCAARRD), and other matters concerning the Consortium’s research and development initiatives.
The day’s engagements concluded with the 3rd Quarter Governing Board Meeting of the MIMAROPA Health Research and Development Consortium (MHRDC), presided over by Dr. Merian P. Catajay-Mani, MHRDC Chairperson and President of Romblon State University (RSU).

The Governing Board reviewed the Second Quarter 2026 Accomplishment Report, financial reports, updates on MHRDC-endorsed research proposals, and the utilization of annual dues. Members also deliberated on the membership application of a foundation hospital to the Consortium and discussed preparations for upcoming activities.
Through its active participation in these meetings, MarSU continues to strengthen institutional collaboration and contribute to research-driven policies and initiatives that support sustainable development, innovation and public service across the region.
