Boac, Marinduque, Philippines — A new milestone in campus accessibility, bringing learning and innovation to greater heights! University President Prof. Diosdado P. Zulueta graced the Elevator Blessing and Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony of the College of Engineering (CEng) Laboratory Building on October 12, 2026, at the Main Campus, Boac.
Anchored on the theme, “Advancing Accessibility, Innovation, and Student-centered Engineering Education,” the initiative highlights the University’s commitment to improving campus infrastructure and providing a more convenient and conducive environment for its academic community.
Designed to serve the five-storey CEng Laboratory Building, from the ground floor to the roof deck, the elevator provides improved vertical mobility for students, faculty, staff, and other building users. Beyond convenience, this facility represents a meaningful advancement in campus accessibility, helping ease movement between floors and making the building more accessible to its users.
The ceremony commenced with the elevator blessing officiated by Rev. Fr. Ian Retardo, followed by the ribbon-cutting ceremony led by PDPZ, together with CEng Dean Engr. Melito L. Hirondo, university officials, faculty, and staff.
More than a modern building feature, the elevator reflects the University’s continuing efforts to develop infrastructure that responds to the needs of its community. By enhancing access across all five levels of the CEng Laboratory Building, MarSU takes another step toward a campus where mobility, inclusivity, and quality education move forward together.
At MarSU, every step upward reflects a commitment to progress—building a more accessible campus and elevating the future of engineering education.
