Cavite, Philippines — Marinduque State University (MarSU) President Prof. Dr. Diosdado P. Zulueta delivered a message of support during the opening of the Conference on Technology and Research for National Development and Sustainability (ConTReNDS 2026) on April 23, 2026, held at De La Salle University–Dasmariñas.

The conference brought together researchers, educators, and industry partners to collaborate on innovative solutions for national development. Anchored on the theme, “The Role of Social Media and Artificial Intelligence in Sustainable Philippine Development,” the event highlights how digital technologies continue to reshape knowledge sharing, decision-making, and community engagement.

In his message, PDPZ emphasized the vital role of academic institutions in guiding the responsible and meaningful use of emerging technologies. He encouraged participants to move beyond theoretical work and contribute to practical solutions that promote inclusive growth, sustainability, and national progress.

“Research must not remain within the walls of academia. It must reach communities, empower people, and create lasting impact,” he stated, underscoring the importance of translating innovation into real-world applications.

PDPZ was joined by the MarSU delegation from the College of Arts and Social Sciences. Among them, Asst. Jholey Rose Leaño-Lancion served as one of the panelists in the discussion titled “The Role of Social Media and AI in Sustainable Philippine Development”.

The conference continues on April 24, featuring additional plenary sessions, parallel presentations, and closing ceremonies.
