Palawan, Philippines — Marinduque State University (MarSU), together with the delegation of coconut MSMEs and cooperatives from Marinduque, proudly participated in the DTI MIMAROPA 3rd Coco Colloquium and Techno Forum held on September 8-10, 2026 in Puerto Princesa, Palawan, a regional gathering that spotlighted coconut-based innovations and entrepreneurial opportunities.
Representing MarSU, Dr. Ma. Edelwina M. Blase of the College of Agriculture conducted a techno-demonstration on her pioneering probiotic drink developed from coconut sap, a project funded by the Department of Science and Technology – MIMAROPA (DOST-MIMAROPA).
The demonstration highlighted the drink’s potential as a functional, health-promoting beverage and underscored its promise as an additional livelihood opportunity for coconut farmers and entrepreneurs. By transforming coconut sap into a value-added product, the innovation strengthens both local enterprise development and the sustainability of the coconut industry in the region.
University President Prof. Diosdado P. Zulueta fully supported the activity and expressed his support for research and extension initiatives, commending Dr. Blase’s innovation as a testament to MarSU’s dedication to advancing science-based solutions that uplift communities and empower local industries.
MarSU’s active participation in the forum reflects its commitment to research-driven innovation, community empowerment, and regional collaboration, reinforcing the university’s role as a catalyst for agro-based development in MIMAROPA.
