Boac, Marinduque, Philippines — The province of Marinduque proudly took part in the hosting of the Handog ng Pangulo Program held on September 14, 2026 at Capitol Grounds, Boac, Marinduque, which is a national landmark initiative underscoring the government’s commitment to delivering essential services and assistance directly to the people.
The program began with preliminaries and the introduction of participants led by Mr. Juan R. Fernandez, Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer (PDRRMO). This was followed by welcome remarks from Governor Melecio J. Go, who warmly acknowledged the presence of guests, partner agencies, and beneficiaries in his recorded message, emphasizing the importance of unity and collaboration in advancing the welfare of Marinduqueños.
Distinguished leaders shared their insights through key messages, including Dir. Ivan Stephen F. Fadri, CESE, Provincial Director of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Marinduque, and Dr. Shirley C. Agrupis, Chairperson of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED). Their words highlighted the vital role of education, governance, and partnership in uplifting communities.
An audio-visual presentation (AVP) provided an overview of the services available under the program, setting the stage for the ceremonial distribution of government assistance and services from both the Provincial Government and National Government Agencies.
The event was graced not only by national and provincial leaders but also by other key officials, personnel, and students, whose active participation reflected the collective spirit of service and solidarity. Significantly, the program also welcomed the presence of the Presidents of Romblon State University (RSU), Laguna State Polytechnic University (LSPU), and Southern Luzon State University (SLSU), further strengthening the academic and institutional ties among State Universities and Colleges in the region.
Adding a touch of pride and artistry, the MarSU Brass Band performed during the program setting a dignified and inspiring tone for the event.
Among the participating institutions, Marinduque State University (MarSU) led by Prof. Diosdado P. Zulueta, showcased its commitment to student welfare and community service by offering:
• Release of Tertiary Education Subsidy (TES) facilitated by Dr. Michael Jaye Ribleza and Ms. Sofia Dina C. Garol, ensuring financial support for deserving students.
• Release of Transcript of Records (Free), overseen by Mrs. Gemma Tirol, providing accessible academic documentation without cost.
• Guidance and Counseling Services for walk-in clients, led by Mrs. Emelita Rodelas, extending psychosocial support to students and community members.
• Hot Meals for Clients, prepared under the leadership of Dr. Maria Morena Santos, reflecting MarSU’s care and hospitality for program beneficiaries.
In a symbolic gesture of unity, a Zoom patch greeting was extended to President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. from the province of Marinduque. The program also featured the awarding of tokens of appreciation to CHED MIMAROPA delegates led by Regional Director Edna Imelda F. Legazpi in recognition of their support.
The event concluded with closing messages from Congressman Reynaldo Salvacion and Vice Governor Romulo Bacorro Jr., who reaffirmed their dedication to sustaining programs that directly benefit Marinduqueños.
