Boac, Marinduque, Philippines — The Department of Science and Technology–Forest Products Research and Development Institute (DOST-FPRDI) paid a courtesy visit to the Office of the President of Marinduque State University (MarSU), Prof. Diosdado P. Zulueta on September 7, 2026, as part of its official engagement in the province.
Faculty members and staff from MarSU Torrijos Campus accompanied the delegation, reflecting the institution’s active support for community-based development initiatives.
The team is in Marinduque to conduct a livelihood training on pili (Canarium ovatum Engl.) resin tapping at Barangay Tabionan, Gasan from September 7–10, 2026. This training is part of the approved 2026 Gender and Development (GAD) Project, with funding support from the Provincial Government of Marinduque and in partnership with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources–Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (DENR-PENRO) Marinduque.
The project is led by Prof. Doreen R. Mascareňas, who emphasized the importance of capacitating local communities with sustainable livelihood skills that balance economic opportunity and environmental conservation.
The DOST-FPRDI team is composed of For. Christian Amante, Techno-transfer Specialist, For. Margie B. Dizon, Chief of TSD-TMDSS, and For. Florena B. Samiano, Subject Matter Specialist.
President Zulueta warmly welcomed the delegation, affirming MarSU’s commitment to advancing inclusive growth through science, technology, and innovation. He noted that the initiative strengthens partnerships between academic institutions, government agencies, and local communities in building resilient and sustainable futures for Marinduque.
