Boac, Marinduque, Philippines — Marinduque State University formally welcomed students to the First Semester of Academic Year 2026–2027 through a solemn and celebratory opening program.

The day began with a Holy Mass officiated by Rev. Fr. Ian Retardo, setting a tone of gratitude and reflection. This was followed by the ceremonial opening of the university gates, led by University President Prof. Diosdado P. Zulueta and the Vice Presidents, University and Board Secretary, and Chief of Presidential Management Staff, accompanied by the spirited performance of the MarSU Brass Band.

The flag raising ceremony, hosted by the Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs and Services (VPSAS) led by Dr. Verna Liza L. Capiňa, marked the official start of the academic year. In the opening program, VPSAS delivered a welcome message, while President Zulueta, the Vice Presidents, Registrar, and University and Board Secretary jointly unveiled the Academic Calendar.

Messages of support were shared through video presentations from the Commission on Higher Education, Commissioner Desiderio R. Apag III, BOR Representative Fr. Ian Retardo, and Congressman Reynaldo Salvacion. The message of Governor Melecio Go was warmly conveyed by Dr. Jessica Semilla, underscoring the province’s commitment to education.

A highlight of the program was the introduction of admission examination topnotchers per program, who then led the Pledge of Commitment, guided by VP for Administration Atty. Crispin Francis M. Jandusay. The CoEd Laboratory School added a cultural touch with a special DLC performance, showcasing student talent and creativity.

The program concluded with a closing message from Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Leodegario M. Jalos, Jr., inspiring the community to embrace the challenges and opportunities of the new academic year with unity and determination.
