Boac, Marinduque, Philippines — Marinduque State University (MarSU) formally honored the Class of 2026 during its 70th Commencement Exercises held on May 28, 2026, at the MarSU Gymnasium. Conducted in two clusters, the ceremony recognized graduates from the university’s different colleges and the Graduate School under the theme, “ACHIEVE-ing 70 Years of Transformative Excellence: Empowering Graduates Toward Advanced Education, Global Competitiveness, and Sustainable Futures.”

The morning ceremony recognized graduates from the College of Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences, College of Governance, College of Criminal Justice and Education, College of Allied Health Sciences, College of Business and Accountancy, College of Education, College of Arts and Social Sciences, and the Graduate School. Meanwhile, the afternoon cluster honored graduates from the College of Engineering, College of Industrial Technology, College of Information and Computing Sciences, and College of Environmental Sciences. The commencement exercises celebrated the achievements of 2,348 graduates who were conferred their respective degrees and academic distinctions.

Both ceremonies opened with a formal processional led by the MarSU ROTC Honor Guards, followed by the presentation of candidates for graduation led by Vice President for Academic Affairs Assoc. Prof. Dr. Leodegario M. Jalos Jr. and the respective college deans. University President Prof. Dr. Diosdado P. Zulueta officially confirmed and conferred the degrees upon the graduates.

In his message, President Zulueta challenged Batch 2026 graduates to remain adaptable and continue improving amid rapid technological advancement, emphasizing the value of human qualities that artificial intelligence cannot replace. This year’s commencement speakers, CHED Chairperson Hon. Sherly C. Agrupis and CHED Commissioner Hon. Desiderio R. Apag III, meanwhile urged graduates to uphold honesty, discipline, and integrity, stressing that true success is shaped by character and resilience.

The awarding of diplomas and certificates was led by President Zulueta together with members of the MarSU Board of Regents, university officials, and college deans. Congratulatory messages were delivered by Boac Mayor Hon. Armi DC. Carrion and Marinduque Governor Hon. Melecio J. Go.

Representing the graduating class were Magna Cum Laude awardees Kevin V. Monteagudo of Bachelor of Science in Social Work and Lance Rafael G. Martinez of Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science. In their speeches, they reflected on the challenges, sacrifices, and perseverance that shaped their academic journeys and encouraged fellow graduates to move forward with determination and purpose.

The commencement exercises concluded with the graduates’ pledge of loyalty, induction into the MarSU Alumni Association, and the singing of “Pilipinas Kong Mahal” and the MarSU Hymn.
