About the Marinduque Futures Lab

The Marinduque Futures Lab (MFL) Research Center is a research and development initiative of Marinduque State University dedicated to supporting the University’s pursuit of global transformation and recognition.

The Center provides an institutional space for the development and implementation of programs, projects, and activities that promote forward-looking approaches to research, innovation, collaboration, and community engagement.

The MFL Research Center works across key sectors that influence the development of communities and institutions. Through its Center Coordinators, Program Leaders, Sectoral Focal Persons, and Lab Secretaries, the Center facilitates multidisciplinary initiatives responsive to sector-specific needs and emerging opportunities.

The Center also supports the alignment of its programs, projects, and activities with the University’s Research Agenda while drawing on available expertise and partnerships to strengthen research, knowledge development, and collaborative initiatives.

Purpose and Role

The Marinduque Futures Lab Research Center seeks to strengthen Marinduque State University’s capacity to anticipate and respond to emerging challenges and opportunities through research, interdisciplinary collaboration, sectoral engagement, and knowledge development.

Its programs, projects, and activities are carried out in accordance with the University’s Vision, Mission, Goals and Objectives and are aligned with the University’s Research Agenda.

Sectoral Areas

The MFL Research Center organizes its initiatives around five key sectors that reflect important areas of development and public concern.

Center Coordinators

Roles and Responsibilities

1. Ensure that the programs, projects, and activities of the MFL Research Center are carried out in accordance with the University’s Vision, Mission, Goals and Objectives.
2. Review all communications relating to the programs, projects, and activities of the MFL Research Center.
3. Assist the Research Center Director in all the programs, projects, and activities of the MFL Research Center.
4. Ensure the attainment of its commitments as highlighted in the Memorandum of Understanding.

Program Leaders

Roles and Responsibilities

1. Coordinate with the Research Director with regard to its programs, projects, and activities.
2. Facilitate the alignment of the MFL Research Center’s programs, projects, and activities within the University’s Research Agenda.
3. Tap available experts as partners in the implementation of its programs, projects, and activities.
4. Initiate programs, projects, and activities.
5. Ensure the attainment of its commitments as highlighted in the Memorandum of Understanding.

Sectoral Focal Persons

Roles and Responsibilities

1. Coordinate with the Sectoral Focal Persons with regard to its programs, projects, and activities.
2. Tap available experts as partners in the implementation of its programs, projects, and activities related to the sectors involved.
3. Initiate programs, projects, and activities.
4. Ensure the attainment of its commitments as highlighted in the Memorandum of Understanding.

Lab Secretaries

Roles and Responsibilities

1. Act as records and property custodian to the MFL Research Center.
2. Document all activities of the Lab.
3. Support the attainment of its commitments as highlighted in the Memorandum of Understanding.

City Futures Lab Partnership

Pursuant to the Memorandum of Understanding with the City Futures Lab, a program of CVIKA Knowledge Management Solutions, Inc., in collaboration with UP-NCPAG, MarSU College of Business and Accountancy, College of Governance, and Graduate School, the MFL Research Center is committed to supporting the implementation of collaborative programs and knowledge activities.

1. Mobilize interested academic institution members and faculty to participate in the MFL Program.
2. Facilitate alignment of curricular, co-curricular, and extra-curricular activities of students to advance the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through MFL initiatives and projects.
3. Support the engagement of Local Government Units LGUs) in ongoing joint development and research dialogue in order to align student term papers, research projects, and theses with relevant topics.
4. Tap available experts to serve as resource persons in the various activities of the Lab.
5. Provide technical support in the conduct of knowledge activities in relation to the project.
6. Link with CLCD and CVIKA with regard to project updates and development.
