About Us
The Legal Services Unit serves as the University’s principal legal office under the Office of the University President. It provides legal counsel and advisory services to University officials to ensure that institutional policies, decisions, contracts, and official actions comply with applicable laws, government rules, regulations, and University policies.
The Unit supports sound governance by safeguarding the legal interests of Marinduque State University through legal research, contract review, policy interpretation, dispute resolution, representation in legal proceedings, and the preparation of legal documents. It promotes integrity, accountability, transparency, and ethical conduct in all University transactions and operations.
Major Functions
Preparation of Legal Documents
Prepares legal documents, official communications, memoranda, endorsements, opinions, and legal correspondences required by the University.
Contract and Agreement Review
Reviews contracts, memoranda of agreement, memoranda of understanding, and other legal instruments before submission for approval by the appropriate University authorities.
Legal Advisory Services
Provides legal opinions, advice, and recommendations to support University management while promoting compliance with applicable laws and ethical standards.
Legal Research and Analysis
Conducts legal research and prepares legal analyses concerning issues affecting University operations, governance, and institutional interests.
Representation and Dispute Resolution
Represents the University in legal matters, negotiations, dispute settlement, arbitration, and related proceedings when authorized.
Other Legal Functions
Performs other legal duties and responsibilities assigned by the University President in support of the University’s mission and objectives.
Legal Services
The Legal Services Unit provides legal support to the University through the preparation of legal documents, review of contracts and agreements, legal consultation, policy interpretation, legal research, representation in legal matters, and other services necessary to safeguard the University’s legal interests and ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
