About Us
The Information Unit of Marinduque State University (MarSU) serves as the official information, communication, and media support unit responsible for promoting accurate, timely, and strategic dissemination of institutional information, programs, activities, accomplishments, and public service initiatives of the University. The Unit plays a vital role in strengthening public awareness, institutional visibility, stakeholder engagement, and transparent communication within and outside the University community.
The Unit traces its roots to the early 2000s during the tenure of College President Prof. Romulo H. Malvar when the Management Information Systems (MIS) Unit established the College Library-based Audio Visual Room (AVR) and initiated media production services for the institution. The unit was later reorganized into the Knowledge and Information Management Systems (KIMS), initially headed by Dr. Randy T. Nobleza and subsequently by Asst. Prof. Anna Rofel O. Lozada.
In 2015, during the administration of President Dr. Merian Catajay-Mani, the Office of Media and International Affairs (OMIA) was formally created pursuant to BOT Resolution No. 16 series of 2016. The Office was tasked with institutional information dissemination, communication media services, and support to the University’s internationalization initiatives. In 2024, during the leadership of University President Prof. Diosdado P. Zulueta, a separate International Relations Office was established, allowing the communication and media functions of OMIA to be reorganized and transformed into the Communication Media Unit, also known as MediaWorks, which now operates as a section under the Information Unit.
At present, the Information Unit oversees the development, management, and dissemination of official news releases, announcements, publications, multimedia materials, digital content, and communication campaigns through various information platforms and communication channels of the University. It ensures that official information released to the public is accurate, relevant, responsive, and aligned with the University’s vision, mission, and strategic priorities.
Through its MediaWorks section, the Unit supports the production of multimedia content including photography, videography, publication materials, audio-visual presentations, social media content, marketing communication materials, and institutional branding initiatives that promote the University’s programs, achievements, and public engagements. The Unit also assists in event coverage, crisis communication support, public information dissemination, and management of official digital communication platforms of the University.
The Information Unit likewise collaborates with internal offices, external agencies, media organizations, and stakeholders in strengthening institutional partnerships, public relations, and community engagement efforts that enhance the University’s image and reputation as a responsive and progressive state university.
Guided by the principles of professionalism, integrity, transparency, accuracy, creativity, and service excellence, the Information Unit remains committed to fostering informed engagement, responsible communication, and innovative public information services that contribute to the advancement of Marinduque State University and its stakeholders.
