Clark, Pampanga, Philippines — Marinduque State University (MarSU) represented by its President, Prof. Diosdado P. Zulueta, participated in the Higher Education Summit 2026 on March 10, 2026, at the SMX Convention Center, Clark, Pampanga. The summit gathered presidents of State Universities and Colleges (SUCs), Local Universities and Colleges (LUCs), Private Higher Education Institutions (PHEIs), including Hon. Jude A. Acidre, Chairperson of the Committee on Higher and Technical Education (CHTE) of the House of Representatives; CHED Chairperson Dr. Shirley C. Agrupis; CHED Commissioners; and representatives from partner agencies.
Carrying the theme “Achieving Sustainable Futures: Transformative Higher Education for Human Capital, Innovation, and Global Responsibility,” the summit highlights the role of higher education institutions in advancing human capital development, strengthening research and innovation, and promoting global collaboration in addressing emerging societal challenges.
The program opened with welcome remarks from Commissioner Myrna Q. Mallari, who underscored the growing demands of a rapidly evolving world and the important role of higher education institutions in preparing graduates who can respond to global and national challenges while Hon. Jude A. Acidre emphasized in his message the value of education in shaping the nation’s future. He noted that behind every policy and legislative measure in Congress are students and families striving for better opportunities.
Meanwhile, CHED Chairperson Dr. Shirley C. Agrupis presented the framework “Achieving Sustainable Futures: Transformative Higher Education for Human Capital, Innovation, and Global Responsibility.” In her address, she pointed out that higher education must adapt to a rapidly changing world shaped by technological acceleration, artificial intelligence, scientific breakthroughs, global economic shifts, and the evolving nature of work.
The summit also featured a series of panel discussions with speakers from various local and international agencies and partner institutions. These discussions tackle key issues shaping the future of higher education, including lifelong learning, human capital development, SDG-aligned research and innovation, internationalization, data and analytics systems, institutional governance, and responsive public service in the higher education sector.
Through his participation in the Higher Education Summit 2026, PDPZ reflects MarSU’s continued commitment to innovation, collaboration, and quality education in support of national development.
