Iloilo City, Philippines — Marinduque State University (MarSU), led by President Prof. Diosdado P. Zulueta, participated in the Commission on Higher Education’s RAISE 2026: Responding through AI for Societal Empowerment, held on February 25–27, 2026, at the Iloilo Convention Center, Iloilo City.
The three-day event convened University Presidents and Administrators from SUCs, LUCs and PHEIs, to discuss how artificial intelligence (AI) can transform Philippine higher education. They explored ways to align academic programs with industry needs, strengthen institutional systems, and prepare students for a rapidly evolving digital workforce.
On the first day, CHED Chairperson Dr. Shirley C. Agrupis led the conference and emphasized AI’s role in nation-building and sustainable innovation. She urged higher education institutions to use technology to expand access, improve quality, and support inclusive development.
PDPZ engaged in discussions on how universities can use AI to enhance teaching, improve university operations, and expand research and community programs. He also joined the Presidents’ Forum, where SUC leaders shared experiences and ideas on using AI to empower institutions and communities nationwide.
CHED introduced the RAISE framework, which calls on universities to Reimagine Education, Align Skills, Innovate Responsibly, Strengthen Partnerships, and Empower Communities. These directions encourage institutions to adopt AI ethically, inclusively, and collaboratively with government and industry partners.
PDPZ was accompanied by Dr. Alfredo M. Ofrecio III, (PMS, Chief).
